About us - A FAMILY TRADITION

The Gondolier Apartments were built in 1957 by Henry and Leona of St. Louis, Missouri. Planning, building and planting the yard with shrubs and fruit trees took months.

Leona took great pains to make sure the interiors were just right.

The establishment opened for business on January 1, 1958, and fishing was a priority. The best fishing spots were offshore, the city pier, and off vacant lots on Port Royal.

Their son remembers "Mom promoted the business with shell art classes and Dad showed people how and where to fish."
Leona believed in treating guests as family - a tradition that continues to this day.
